Last year I moved back to the countryside where I spent my childhood years, to work on my second solo album. I had the opportunity to move into an old house that used to belong to my grandparents, and the time I’ve spent here has taught me a lot about myself. My entire adult life has been spent traveling and making music, and although it is a fantastic lifestyle, it can sometimes be easy to lose the sense of who you are and where you belong. As a Norwegian musician, starting out playing jazz and then falling in love Irish Traditional Music, I can certainly tell you that my musical identity has been evolving over the years. Lately though, I have come to realize that it isn’t really about what music you play, but rather who you are and what you bring to the music.

I wanted this album to have a laid back and collaborative vibe. I therefore invited three of my friends over to the house for a week to jam on some of our favorite tunes. The result is currently in your hand. I love making records like this, when everyone is totally immersed in the creative process together, and I think this enjoyment shines through in the finished product. The tunes are mostly from the Irish Traditional Music repertoire, with the addition of one composition by me, and couple of old Norwegian waltzes. Most of all, I think this album represents a fun meeting between four, strong musical voices. I hope you will have as much fun listening to it as we had recording it!
